Syria Denounces Israeli Attacks as 'Blatant Violation' International Law
At a joint press conference with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in the Jordanian capital, following a meeting of the Syrian-Jordanian Higher Coordination Council, Shaibani also denounced Israel’s ongoing expansionist activities in the occupied Golan Heights.
“We strongly condemn the blatant and repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and the frenzied expansion in the occupied Golan, which constitute a clear violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law,” Shaibani remarked.
The Syrian diplomat further drew comparisons to recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, which he argued similarly targeted civilian infrastructure. "These actions are no different from the brutal aggression that destroyed infrastructure in Lebanon last week," he said.
After the fall of Assad’s government, Israel declared the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between the two countries null and void. Israel then moved into Syria’s buffer zone and has since been conducting almost daily military strikes and incursions.
